It's really a grim situation down there. Hancock are gutting reafforested land under the guise that it is all plantation. Koalas are known to move into these reafforested areas from natural forest areas where they then face the brunt of rampant plantation loggers!!

Summer Bus 'Tours'


There are buses going to the forest protests in East Gippsland's old growth (beginning 10th jan onward) and the Corroboree for Sovereignty at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy (beginning 27th jan) There is also a National Environment Conference at the Tent Embassy after the Corroboree for Sovereignty and the beginning of the critical convergence at Lucas Heights, Sydney to stop the new reactor (beginning 2nd feb) more details below

There are minibuses booked as follows-this is just outline, duration and flexibility is possible where travel wishes can be sorted

1. Bus will leave Melbourne on the 20th jan and go to goongerah and forest protest in east gippsland. it will then leave east gippsland to go to canberra for invasion day on the 26th jan this will come back to melb on 1st feb

2.Bus will leave Melbourne on the 25th jan and go to Canberra it will then go to Goongerah and forest protest in east gippsland after the Corroboree for Sovereignty this bus will come back to melbourne on the 3rd feb

3.Bus will leave Melbourne for canberra on the 25th of jan this will come back to melb on the 31st jan *there are people also travelling to Sydney after the environment conference for the Sydney reactor convergence
*another bus may leave earlier in jan,let us know if interested
buses are subsidised by the environment, queer, womyns and welfare and education departments of rmit student union, it will cost you b/w 20-30 bucks depending. if you can drive and over 25 and can help please let us know

East Gippsland forest blockades

Despite a temporary moratorium on goolengook, old growth forests of East Gippsland are still rapidly being razed napalmed and destroyed. These mesmerising ancient forests are being lost forever. Logging of Survey Road and Dingo Creek have occurred recently,and were oppossed by blockading conservationists
